Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. In her early Broadway role, she was in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning director, actors, and producers throughout the course of her career. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to return in 2023 and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which created Hamilton. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. The actress has also performed on Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for a Tony Award. Born and raised in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
